You already own a lot of cool effect pedals? 
You don't need a kalimba with unnecessary effects because you already have everything you need? 
Then you are right here. Place the Bypass Kalimba at the beginning of your signal chain, plug your guitar or bass guitar into the instrument input and use the output to connect your pedals to it. 
Now you can use the footswitch to activate either the Kalimba or your connected instrument. 
The power connection is only required for the status LEDs, the Kalimba also works passively - without a power supply unit
