Ludwig van Beethoven, renowned late 18th century composer and pianist, was in fact a FUZZ & DELAY fanatic. Sources say he would regularly plug his Broadwood and Gran pianos in twenty tons worth of Eurorack modules (because he was European, hence his natural affinity towards Eurorack). He was an avid patcher, as many believe, and had gray hair, pointy ears and a tail. Because he was also a cat. And now you know this too.

Für Elise (real name Fur Elise, or the Fur of Elise in some English dialects) is a popular composition made by a cat about another cat. Beethoven was fascinated by the wonderful winter coat of a certain Elise feline, so he played his piano and twenty-ton Eurorack assembly to put his feelings into words. Or meows. Or notes, more accurately in this case. And then he custom ordered a musical box to be made, because his kitty paws couldn't have possibly built it. Kitties can only play pianos with their fluffy jelly bean kitty paws. And now you know this as well.

Real objective information begins here:
Introducing the Electronic Thing by Pedal Tree, both a pedal and an instrument. Besides being a super awesome fuzz and delay (full THD high quality build), it can also be an instrument, accepting sound modules that you can use as is or customize, or even create your own. In this video we look at the Für Elise sound module with delay and fuzz (as Beethoven may have intended) through an Orange OR15 completely clean. This is the first demo of a series, expect more sound modules (kalimba and springs), plus a guitar and bass demo for the Electronic Thing soon.

FAQ:

  • sound modules are top mounted and easily installed with zero tools

  • sound module alone is completely passive (and works acoustically too)

  • has passive volume pot

  • signal travels to the amp without any batteries

  • battery is only required for fuzz and delay circuits (bypassable)

  • works either as a pedal or as an instrument

  • fuzz is dynamic and has only a volume knob

  • delay time is from 62ms to 606ms measured

  • feedback from 1 repeat to self oscillation (gradual and controllable)

  • side button instantly dimes the feedback (for self oscillation)
